Richard Krajicek became the first Tradition Nottingham Masters Legends' Champion after a 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 Super Tie-Break victory over Greg Rusedski.
It was a battle of the big hitters as serve after serve flew past like bullets from a gun. The first break of the match came with Rusedski leading 5-4, breaking Krajicek's powerful serve to win the first set.
The second set went with serve, but it was clearly taking its toll on the Brit who at 3-2 invited a child on court to play a point whilst he took a breather.
It was then that Krajicek made the break through after a long game to lead 4-3, then held serve to make it 5-3. Rusedski responded with a service game to love before the Dutchman forced a deciding tie-break serving out at 6-4.
The Super Tie-Break lived up to its billing and with the scores level at 10-10 the former British number one double faulted. Krajicek pounced on that error and served for the match and the title of 2009 Tradition Nottingham Masters Champion, winning 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 STB.
Meanwhile in the exhibition women's match there was disappointment for Britain's 15-year-old Laura Robson (GBR) as she lost the third and deciding match of her trilogy against Olga Savchuk (UKR). The Ukrainian won both sets 6-4 to win the series 2-1 after three days of very competitive tennis between the two girls.
Robson will now travel to compete in the highly regarded Tradition ICAP Liverpool International Tennis Tournament next week as she continues her preparation for her wild-card entry to Wimbledon. Olga will be in SW18 a week earlier as she enters the qualifying rounds. Maybe we will see the fourth Robson/Savchuk encounter in London in two weeks time?
