Tennis Bear Prepares the Court

news14 (* NEW *)

If you go down to centre court today you are in for a big surprise! The Tennis Bear was up and out early this morning to prepare centre court for the day's action.

Groundsman Wayne Thomas braved the already hot morning in a furry bear suit as he marked out the lines for day two of the Tradition Nottingham Masters.

"It's just a bit of fun," said Wayne who looks after the five grass courts at the Nottingham Tennis Centre. "The kids love it when they see a 6ft bear walking along the court painting the lines out."

You can see Tennis Bear's hard work as play begins at 12 noon as Cedric Pioline (FRA) takes on Barry Cowan (GBR) before Britain's Junior Wimbledon Champion Laura Robson (GBR) makes her debut at Nottingham.
